PaiN

What is pain? Pain is subjective, we know that. One doesn't have to be a nursing student to know that. If someone says, "I'm in pain", that someone is in pain.

There are several types of pain. I think, no, I believe I've experienced those types today.

What I thought was to be an ordinary day, turned out to be one of those days you may never forget.

Blurrily rubbing my eyes, I awoke with a twinge of something nagging at the back of my mind. A few minutes later, I realized I had completely cursed my way through answering my final exams the day before. Having had moderate fever 2 days prior to the exams and resting the day before that, I inadvertently just left everything up to chance. Others refer to it as faith. I told myself, I would just have to rely on sheer luck and "stock knowledge" to answer my final exams. Anyhoo, I know I didn't do well but I hoped for a good outcome, so I set that nagging feeling aside and went to the bathroom.

Urgh! I knew time would come eventually. After a 5-month absence, that fiery red monster came back to sneer at me, taunting me with its pungent smell. Dang, that bloody mess I see in my undies can't be good. I hate having my period. There goes my good day. I knew then I would have to bring a battalion of pain meds. Oh well.

There it is, my first type of pain. Physical Pain. Hmm, the good thing is, I could use my incoming dysmenorrhea as a valid excuse for missing our group meeting. Since as I was worried about our upcoming defense, I raised my own white flag and went anyway. But first, I needed to pop in a few pain meds.

What came next was a blow. When I arrived at the library, the thing I was dreading came to pass. My groupmates were busy checking their papers. Some were counting gleefully, while others had faces which grew more somber by the minute. So I took the next remaining seat and joined in the hoola-baloo. AT this point, I then experienced another type of pain. Mental Pain. I know it sounds corny, but I did have a stabbing headache totally not physical.

So, I just shrugged it off and said to myself, "what could be worse than this?". The funny thing about rhetorical questions is, fate sends you a text message right away.

As I was grumpily counting my wrong answers, my "crush" beckoned me to sit beside him. I was pleased. He told me he had something to tell me. While my heart felt like it was about to explode, my whole body felt like melting. "Okay, calm down. Don't be too assuming.", I said to myself. As I was glowingly smiling as I sat beside him, his next words dealt a very harsh and compelling blow. He told me, "Hey, me and She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named are dating. It's really great, right? But please, don't tell anyone. We just wanted you to be the first to know." "Wow! That's really great! Thanks for telling me". I forced a big smile and left him.

Shock. Grief. Pain. Anger. More pain.

The song was right. Love Hurts.

BJ

people love this. it makes you feel good. some people call it a de-stressor. others just want it all day long. any inhibitions you had previously had will go up in flames once you've had a taste of it.

now, don't go thinking what i think your thinking.. i'm referring to the buko juice. ^_~ now, c'mon, don't feel bad. after all, it's light, it's tasty, and dang it, it's even healthy!! they say it even cleanses your body inside as well. i just had my fill and i'm humming right now. sweet!~ it's a sweltering afternoon out, and that one BJ did me in.
*grins*

well.. anyway, for those who are upset that i've veered from the common abbreviation. let me just share one of my favorite quotes from Samantha Jones (SATC).

"You men have no idea what we're dealing with down there. Teeth placement, and jaw stress, and suction, and gag reflex, and all the while bobbing up and down, moaning and trying to breathe through our noses. Easy? Honey, they don't call it a job for nothin'."

right on the spot!~

exam blues

*sigh*

tomorrow's my semifinals on med-surg nursing. i can't seem to focus on studying. my mind keeps on straying away, either to facebook, the twilight saga, or food. and eventhough i already made an itinerary for today, trouble is, i have a hard time keeping to that schedule. i've been procrastinating the last 2 days favoring the holiday today as my super study day mode. now, it's already 5pm and i'm still trying to focus. sheesh!

what i'd do to do away with my procrastination.

migraine

ugh, i feel one coming. i can feel the drumlike beat of the pain ebbing and flowing. regret seemingly settles in as i realize it might have been due to the extra bar of chocolate i ate this morning. ahh, i can feel it now. like a staccato note, the pain pulses, rearing its ugly head. teasing me. leering at me. now i'm asking myself if that extra sweet dark chocolate was worth it. right now, i can't say..hmm, ask me tomorrow after i've dealt with this.

cold sweat

what's really irritating is when you're just about ready to leave the house and you realize there's something funny going in your tummy. that's when you're breaking out in cold sweat.. you hurry back in, grab the nearest pile of tissues and almost break down the bathroom door in your haste. after a few minutes, a flush is heard and a relieved sigh is almost audible.

oh sh*T, i'm late! gotta go...
